On June 1, 1999, representatives of relevant government agencies concluded an “interagency agreement on the Training Center for the Qualification Improvement and Retraining of Law Enforcement Specialists of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Countering the Illegal Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances”, thereby establishing its status as an “Interagency Center”, which was established by the State Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Narcotics Control, chaired by the Prime Minister in charge of drug control, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Kasym-Zhomart Kemelovich Tokayev.
In accordance with the order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated January 29, 2003, No. 49, the training center for the qualification improvement and retraining of law enforcement specialists in combating the illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances of the Almaty Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan named after M. Yesbulatov was transformed into an “interagency training center of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the fight against the drug business.”
In 2018, the Center was renamed to the “Interagency Center for Training Specialists in Combating Drug Crime.”
CENTER’S TASKS:
Creating conditions for additional professional education of personnel in the field of combating drug crime
Organization and conduct of interagency, regional, and international seminars on topical issues of combating drug crime
Meeting the needs of specialists in obtaining knowledge about new developments in the field of combating drug crime, advanced domestic and foreign experience
Development of recommendations and proposals aimed at improving the quality of training of specialists in combating drug crime
Development of scientific topics provided for in the plan of SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND EXPERIMENTAL-CONSTRUCTION WORK of the Academy based on the orders of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as initiative topics included in the plan of SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND EXPERIMENTAL-CONSTRUCTION WORK of the Academy.
